Transformers One
Ever since the Hasbro Transformers toys hit shelves in 1984, kids have been obsessed with the tiny morphing robots. Inspiring countless tv series and movies, a new story emerges. It’s the first animated movie since 1986’s Transformers: The Movie. Voiced by an all-star cast, Transformers One is the untold story of Optimus Prime and Megatron before they became enemies.
What is Transformers One About?
It’s hard to believe that once Optimus Prime (Chris Hemsworth) and Megatron (Brian Tyree Henry) were actually friends. Working in waste management on their home world of Cybertron, the two formed a bond like brothers. Then, they were known as Orion Pax (Optimus) and D-16 (Megatron). Soon they meet B-127/Bumblebee (Keegan-Michael Key) and Elita-1 (Scarlett Johansson). Neither of them can transform yet, so they must keep busy with their tasks at work and are forbidden to go to the surface of Cybertron.
Unbeknownst to them, the planet is hostile and not a place for young robots. Even so, the friends waste no time sneaking off and go to the surface. There they find all the dangers they were warned about. However, they have a chance encounter with Alpha Trion (Laurence Fishburne) that will change them and Cybertron forever. He gifts them with the power to shift into alt-forms. As a result, they gain the powers that makes them the robots we know today. More important, it’s the start of the rift between Optimus Prime and Megatron.
At the recent CinemaCon, Paramount revealed the official title, logo, trailer and cast. Besides those listed above, Jon Hamm was cast as Sentinel Prime and Steve Buscemi voices Starscream. Although their voice actors have not been revealed, Shockwave and Soundwave are set to appear in the film.
