Temperatures are rising and when you need to cool down, there are plenty of new movies streaming in June 2024 to keep you entertained. With so many options from Netflix, Prime Video, Peacock and more, finding out which movie to watch can be a chore. From monsters and sharks to groundbreaking documentaries, there are many making their streaming debut this month. Whatever you are in the mood for, we have you covered. Godzilla Minus One (Netflix) – June 1st
Finally, Godzilla Minus One is streaming. After seeing this movie in theaters in December 2023, we’ve been waiting for it to hit a streaming platform. Set near the end of World War II, it follows failed kamikaze pilot Shikishima as he struggle with survivors remorse. No sooner than later does he come face to face with Godzilla. Already devastated from the war, Godzilla wrecks havoc on their town. To prevent others from his wrath, he and his friends hatch a plan to stop him once and for all. From the story line to the visual effect, it’s worth watching.
Under Paris (Netflix) – June 5th
If you are a fan of Jaws like we are, you’ll want to stream Under Paris. From Xavier Gens, the man behind Mayhem! and Gangs of London, comes a different kind of shark movie. In the film, sharks have adapted and can now swim in fresh water. With the Triathlon coming to Paris, it is the worse time to be a swimmer in the Seine River. And of course, the mayor is taking a page from Mayor Vaughn and allowing them to swim. What’s the worse that can happen?
Hit Man (Netflix) – June 7th
With the the success of Anyone But You and the new Twisters movie next month, it’s a good year for Glen Powell. Now, he’s starring in the Netflix film, Hit Man based on an article in Texas Monthly about the life of Gary Johnson. When he’s not at his teaching job at a local university, Gary has a side job as a fake assassin for the New Orleans Police Department. Normally, a mild mannered person, he shows a different side of himself on jobs with wigs, fake teeth and all. But his life becomes complicated when he meets a woman who wants her husband killed. When her husband ends up dead, everything changes.
Brats (Hulu) – June 13th
Even if you didn’t grow up in the 1980s, you’ve either heard their names or seen their movies. Rob Lowe, Demi Moor, Ally Sheedy, Emilio Esteves, Lea Thompson and John Cryer, better known as the Brat Pack, appeared in several teen-oriented movies in the 80s such as Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club. From director, Andrew McCarthy, also a member of the Brat Pack, comes a new documentary exploring how the films impacted their lives and their careers. Unfortunately, members Molly Ringwald and Judd Nelson declined to be interviewed. Either way, Brats still one on the list to check out.

Just because you play sports doesn’t mean you can’t change the world. In the new Prime Video documentary, Power of the Dream, a few WNBA players did just that. They changed the landscape of their sport and the course of politics in America. The WNBA has always faced an uphill battle. But that didn’t stop them from supporting causes such as the LGBTQIA+ rights, #BlackLifesMatter and #SayHerName movements. But when a WNBA team owner started to stop their efforts, they took action. As we can see from the tailer, it a story of empowerment and worth checking out.
Black Barbie (Netflix) – June 19th
Kung Fu Panda 4 (Peacock) – June 21st
Skadoosh! And just like that another Kung Fu Panda movie is making its streaming debut. In the fourth installment of the franchise, The Dragon Warrior is up against a foe like no other. This time, Po has some new friends to help him defeat an enemy who has the power of every villain he’s faced before. If you like the other three films, you’ll enjoy this one as well. With voices from Jack Black, Awkwafina and Viola Davis, what more could you ask for.
Trigger Warning (Netflix) – June 21st
Jessica Alba is no stranger to action. With movies such as Dark Angel and Sin City, she’s used to kicking butt on screen. Her new film, Trigger Warning is no exception. This time, Alba is a Special Forces commando looking for answers about her father’s death. When she finds out whose involved, she takes the law into her own hands. Let the revenge begin.
I Am: Celine Dion (Prime Video) – June 25th
Celine Dion is one of the most recognized, respected and successful performers in history. However, recently she’s been battling Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS) which has taken a toll on her and her career. The Prime Video documentary, I Am: Celine Dion, chronicles her journey as she decides to go back on tour. Get your tissue box ready because this will be a tearjerker.
