It’s time to finally find out what happened before the 1976 classic, The Omen. Damien and his followers have haunted our dreams for decades. From movies to TV shows, the classic has terrified audiences. How did Damien become so evil? Who are his parents? All will be revealed in the new film, The First Omen.
20th Century Studios released the first trailer on January 3, 2024. Although vague about the plot, people were definitely creeped out. Now, with the release of the second trailer, we have a few more details about the film. Nell Tiger Free plays a young American woman sent to Rome. If you’ve seen Apple TV’s, The Servant, Free is the perfect person for this role. In her quest to become a nun, she begins her life of service to the church.
She quickly encounters a dark that makes her question her faith. There is a conspiracy to bring about the birth of evil incarnate. Later to be known as Damien. Father Brennan, Ralph Ineson, warns all who will listen about the arrival of the spawn of the devil. In the 1976 movie, Brennan (Patrick Troughton) is the first character to alert everyone about Damien. He warned Robert and Katherine Throne (Gregory Peck and Lee Remick) about their new toddler. We will learn about Brennan’s background as well as his involvement.
Although this is the first prequel, the Omen franchise is no stranger to remakes and sequels. Three sequels followed the original. They include Damien: Omen 2, Omen 3: The Final Conflict and Omen IV: The Awakening. In 2006, The Omen was remade starring Liev Schreiber and Julia Stiles as Robert and Katherine Thorn. There was even a TV series, Damien, which aired on A&E in 2016.

The First Omen will be released in theaters beginning April 5, 2024. Given that The First Omen is distributed by 20th Century Studios, you can stream on Hulu on May 30, 2024.
