Drawing inspiration from shows like True Detective and Perry Mason, Apple promises the series will be “contemporary, unique take on one of the most popular and significant genres in literary, motion picture and television history: the private detective story.”
What is Sugar About?
Executive produced by Colin Farrell, he stars as John Sugar a private investigator in Los Angeles. While battling his own personal demons, he takes on a case for a high profile Hollywood producer, Jonathan Siegel (James Cromwell). Recently, his granddaughter, Olivia Siegel (Sydney Chandler), has gone missing. However, her father Bernie Siegel (Dennis Boutsikaris) believes she has just ran away. Not convinced, Jonathan seeks the help of a professional.
Despite her concerns about Sugar’s physical and psychological condition, his handler, Ruby (Kirby, formally Kirby Howell-Baptiste), agrees to help him. As they uncover the details of Olivia’s disappearance, the duo unravel secrets that could shatter the Siegel family. These secrets give him plenty of people to question with motives of their own. But his interrogations places him in serious danger.

How to watch Sugar?
The first two episodes of Sugar will debut on Apple TV+ on April 5, 2024. Following the initial release, a new episode will stream each Friday until the final eighth episode which will air on May 17, 2024.
