What is Starting 5 about?
Fresh off their gold medal win at the 2024 Olympics comes Netflix’s Starting 5, a look into the lives of five of the NBA’s biggest players. Seen though the eyes of Jimmy Butler (Miami Heat), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers), Domantas Sabonis (Sacramento Kings) and Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics), get a backstage pass to the 2023-24 NBA season.
Unlike other sports documentaries, you’ll get a glimpse into how they maintain their bodies and balance their personal live with a grueling basketball schedule. Although each of them have the same goal of winning the NBA championship, each are at a different point in their career trying to lead their team to victory. The series captures their battles on and off the court as they chase greatness, push through injuries, and balance the demands of family and legacy.
In his 21st season, LeBron James pushes himself harder than ever to stay healthy and continue to dominate. On the other hand, Anthony Edwards, strives to win his first NBA championship. At the same time, both Jimmy Butler and Domantas Sabonis drives to propel their team to the top. Finally, Jayson Tatum is on a mission to lead the Celtics to a record 18th championship.
