Weddings are a mother, especially when your daughter is marrying your ex’s son, in the Netflix romantic comedy, Mother of the Bride.
What is Mother of the Bride About?
Lana (Brooke Shields) has been eagerly waiting for her daughter, Emma (Miranda Cosgrove) to return home. After all, her daughter has been abroad in London for the past year. Once home, Emma drops a bombshell that stuns her mother. She has met someone and is getting married. Not only that, she’s taking her vows in a month at a resort in Phuket, Thailand. Things get a whole lot worse when she discovers who her daughter is marrying.
While in Thailand, Lana finally meet her daughter fiancé, RJ (Sean Teale). He is the son of the man who broke her heart years before, Will (Benjamin Bratt). As we see in the Mother of the Bride trailer below, Lana and Will were in a serious relationship during college. All of a sudden, one day Will was gone with no explanation. In the midst of planning a wedding and dealing with their own baggage, could there still be the potential to pick things up where they left off. Although, both moved on years ago, it seems that feelings between the two are still there. She begins to ponder, if should she give him a second chance.
Beside those mentioned above, the movie features an all-star ensemble of wedding guests. Starring as Lana’s possible love interest is, Chad Michael Murray. Rounding out the cast are Michael McDonald, Wilson Cruz, Tasneem Roc and Dalip Sondhi.

Serving as director is Mark Waters, who also directed He’s All That, Mean Girls and Freaky Friday. The script writer is no stranger to Netflix or romantic comedies. Robin Bernheim also wrote the script for Netflix’s Princess Switch. In addition to acting in the film, Brooke Shields is also the producer.
