How to Train Your Dragon
Hiccup and Toothless are back, but this time they aren’t animated. At least Hiccup isn’t. And let me add, the animation of Toothless in the trailer is breathtaking. Dreamworks Animations has teamed up with Universal Pictures for a shot-to-shot live action remake of the How to Train Your Dragon franchise that captivated millions. The film has earned four Academy Award nominations and grossed more than $1.6 billion at the global box office.
What is How To Train Your Dragon about?
On the isle of Berk, Vikings and dragons have been bitter enemies for generations. Compared to the rest of the Vikings, Hiccup (Mason Thames) is different. Chief Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler, reprising his voice role from the animated films) and father to Hiccup, wants his son to follow in his footsteps. However, the inventive Hiccup defies centuries of tradition when he befriends Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon. Even though their bond reveals the true nature of dragons, their relationship challenges the very foundations of Viking society. Be that as it may, he is determined to change their minds.
By him side are his friends Astrid (Nico Parker), Goober (Nick Frost), Fishlegs (Julian Dennison), Snoutlout (Gabriel Howell), Ruffnut (Bronwyn James) and Tuffnut (Trevaldwyn). While seemingly impossible, they work to confront fear and misunderstanding of the majestic creatures.
As an ancient threat emerges, it endangers both Vikings and dragons alike. For this purpose Hiccup’s friendship with Toothless becomes the key to forging a new future that could save them all. Together, they try to broker peace and redefine what it means to be a hero and a leader.
