Based on the beloved children’s book, Zachary Levi brings to life Harold in the live action film, Harold and the Purple Crayon. Just as in the book, everything he draws is about to get real.
What is Harold and the Purple Crayon about?
Inspired by the book by Crockett Johnson, Harold and the Purple Crayon follows the curious, Harold. While inside his book, he has the power to create his own world using his magic purple crayon. Anything he draws with this crayon come to life and enters the physical world. Soon he becomes bored with the world he created and draws a line upwards.
Now in the human world, Harold has fun drawing with his friends Moose (Lil Rel Howery) and Mel (Benjamin Bottani). No sooner than later, he find outs he has a lot to learn about the real world. The world may not be ready for him and his crayon. With chaos on the streets, the power of unlimited imagination falls into the wrong hands. To make things right, it will take both Harold and his friends’ creativity to save both the real world as his own.
Contrary to the film, the book was follows a 4 year-old boy embarking on an imaginative journey. Told in the third-person point of view, the book was both written and illustrated by Johnson. Following the first book published in 1955, were nine other books and an animated series.
