What is Fly Me To The Moon About?
In the 1960s during the space race, NASA is under pressure to land the first man on the Moon. At the same time, the Soviet Union announces the same plans. When the USSR launches the first satellite into space, Sputnik 1, it’s clear that the United States may come in second place. And no one remembers second place. As a result, faith in NASA program among the American people is waning.
In order to boost their public image, NASA brings in marketing maven, Kelly Jones (Scarlett Johansson). Already having a difficult time trying to put a man on the moon, launch director Cole Davis (Channing Tatum) is not a fan of Jones. She’s making his already stressful job, impossible. During the process sparks fly in more ways than one.
With a string of early firsts, the Soviet Union is poised to beat the United States in the space race. Deeming the mission too important to fail, the White House plans the unthinkable. As a backup, Jones is directed to stage a fake moon landing if the Soviets are about to edge them out.
