Dune: Part Two
Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya return for an epic sci-fi sequel in Dune: Part Two coming to theaters this November. From what we can see, the sequel will deliver more action than it’s predecessor. I mean come on, Chalamet’s character is riding a giant sandworm in the trailer.
While it has some action, 2021’s Dune, was more set up. It was as introduction to the main character and the issues at had. Timothée Chalamet portrays, Paul Atreides. Although doesn’t understand it, he has a great destiny to fulfill. Throughout the movie, he sees visions of a young woman. So, he begins taking the necessary steps by traveling to a dangerous planet with very little water finally meeting her. As a result, Paul becomes caught in the world’s conflict over this precious commodity. Together, their greatest strength is their will to survive. This leads us into Part Two.
Now, he is in a battle to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee while confronting those who destroyed his family. But fate puts him in an awkward position. Ultimately, he must choose between the love of his life and the fate of the unknown universe.
Familiar faces like Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista and Rebecca Ferguson are back for the sequel. In addition, there is new race of people similar to the “Engineers” in Prometheus. Which makes sense, since Jon Spaihts was the co-writer for both movies.
Both movies are based on the 1965 novel written by Frank Herbert. The title of world’s best-selling science fiction novel is attributed to it. As a result, Herbert wrote five subsequent novels. Important to note, this is not the first adaptation of the book. Initially, a movie adaptation was made in 1986, followed by a mini-series in 2000 and a sequel in 2003 titled Frank Herbert’s Children of Dune.
While the first movie was released in theaters and Max the same day, Dune: Part Two will initially be showcased in theaters. This was due to the pandemic. But the Dune still managed to bring in $400M at the box office. It took home six Oscars and a nomination for best picture.
