This year has been shaping up to be a good year for horror movies. With films like Immaculate, The First Omen and Late Night With The Devil, there have been plenty of good films to watch. Currently, there are a few hidden gems on Netflix. Here are three disturbing movies you need to watch on Netflix if you like horror movies.
It Follows
The premise for It Follows is simple, but it’s one of the creepist movies we’ve ever seen. After sleeping with her boyfriend, Jay (Maika Monroe) learns that she is the latest recipient of an unusual curse. The curse is passed from victim to victim to intercourse. With the curse, phantom assassins follow you until they catch you and kill you in a horrible way. These entities that only the cursed can see are always walking towards them. They never run which makes it even creepier. In order to break the curse for yourself, you have to sleep with someone else. However, if they die, the curse passes back to you. The Autopsy of Jane Doe
The Autopsy of Jane Doe takes the creep factor to a whole other level. Taking place, most in an autopsy room, father and son coroners receive an unidentified corpse. With the exception of her wrist and ankle bones being shattered, there are no external visible signs of death. As they attempt to examine her, weird things begin to happen around them. It’s not one of those movies where the person on the table comes back to life and kills people. In contrast, Jane Doe’s body never leaves the table. She never moves. it is by far the most disturbing movie we have seen.
His House
His House is a Netflix original starring Wunmi Mosaka (Loki) and Sope Dirisu (Gangs of London). After escaping war-torn South Sudan, a young couple move to a small English town to seek asylum. Three months later, their asylum is granted and the government assigns them a house to live in. Due to racism and hatred from the other neighbors, they are instructed not to leave their home too often. Soon, strange things begin to happen in the house including seeing a strange man that disappears into the walls. Imagine living in a haunted house that you cannot leave. That would definitely freak anyone out.
