What is A Thousand Blows about?
From the creator of Peaky Blinders comes a series inspired by the true life stories of Hezekiah Moscow (Malachi Kirby) and Alec Munroe (Francis Lovehall). After fleeing from Jamaica, the two best friends find themselves thrust into criminal underbelly of 1880’s London’s East End. In order to survive, they enter the bare-knuckle boxing scene. As Hezekiah finds fortune and fame through the art of pugilism, he attracts the attention of Mary Carr (Erin Doherty). She is the infamous Queen of an all-female criminal gang known as the Forty Elephants. Her goal is to exploit his talents to further her criminal enterprise.
Meanwhile, the menacing and self-declared emperor of the East End boxing world, Sugar Goodson (Stephen Graham) wants to destroy Hezekiah. The criminal kingpin and notorious boxer wants to stop him from fighting in the West End. This could destroy everything he has built. As a result, a battle of the old world against the new ensues.
