Clipped – June 4th
It was one of the most shocking recordings we’ve ever heard. And the ramifications of it caused the LA Clippers a chance at the NBA Championship. FX’s limited series, Clipped, chronicles the events involving the recording, the release and the aftermath of NBA owner Donald Sterling’s racist remarks. Regarded as a cursed team in the league, the tape put a stain on an already dysfunctional basketball team, especially while trying to win a title.
The Acolyte – June 4th
There is a disturbance in the force and Jedi Master Sol is on a quest to find out who is behind it. With shows such as The Mandalorian, Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Disney+ has found a hit with Star Wars related series. With their latest series, The Acolyte, they are hoping to continue that trend. In the series, when a Jedi Master is murdered, the other Masters launch an investigation to catch a culprit. Only to find out that one of their own may be behind it.
Becoming Karl Lagerfeld – June 7th
Karl Lagerfeld has had more influence on we dress than any other designer. As the creative director at Chanel, he created the two-tone flat, the miniskirt suit, the boho dress multi-layered necklaces and the romantic blouse. Beginning in 1972, the limited series, Becoming Karl Lagerfeld, follows the designer as a change encounter gives him the confidence to go against his friend Yves Saint Laurent to become a fashion legend.
Presumed Innocent – June 12th
Originally premiering on the big screen starring Harrison Ford, Presumed Innocent is re-imagined in a new Apple TV+ limited series. Based on the best-selling book by Scott Turow, the series follows a prosecutor who becomes the prime suspect when one of his colleagues is found dead. Due to his affair with his late co-worker, the situation not only threatens his freedom, but his marriage as well.
Hotel Cocaine – June 16th
In the late 1970s, Miami is the place you want to live life and party hard. At the epicenter is Roman Compte. As a Cuban exile, he as fought against Fidel Castro in the Bay of Pigs invasion and have remade his life in Miami. Now the general manager of the prestigious Mutiny Hotel, he transforms it into the place to be for Miami’s elite. In like fashion, it also becomes the hotspot for the”cocaine cowboys”. Straddling both worlds, he does his best to keep authorities at bay while living the American dream.
Orphan Black: Echoes – June 23rd
Set thirty-seven years after the end of the original series, Kira is all grown up and doing experiments of her own. In the series, a young woman wakes up after undergoing a medical procedure. She has no memory of who she is or how she got there. Together with Kira and her wife, the trio searches for answers to find out what happened. If the new series resembles the original, it will involve clones.
Land of Women – June 26th
Things don’t always go as planned especially when you’re married to a man that doesn’t pay his debts. When her husband vanishes owing the wrong people, Gala is left holding the bag. In the Apple TV+ Original, Land of Women, she is forced to leave her lavish lifestyle in New York City to avoid the dangerous criminals. Her only hope is to find somewhere off the grid where they can’t find her. So she, her aging mother and teenage daughter set their sites on a small wine town in northern Spain. Soon, gossip in the small town quickly spreads unearthing the family’s dark secrets.
My Lady Jane – June 27th
The life of Lady Jane Grey gets a re-do as Prime Video re-writes her story in the new comedy, My Lady Jane. Even though she avoids the executioner’s axe, she still has many challenges to face. Now queen, Jane is the target of everyone coming from her crown. Not to mention, there is a plot to murder her cousin, King Edward. Be that as it may, she plans on living her life to the fullest while at the same time saving herself.
