Jaws is back and this time he is in Paris during the Triathlon Championships in the new French shark thriller on Netflix, Under Paris also known as Sous la Seine.
What is Under Paris about?
In the summer of 2024, Paris is hosting the World Triathlon Championships on the Seine river for the first time. An ecological activist, Mika, has just seen a huge shark that is chomping its way through the river and sewers towards Paris. Because of this, she warns one of Paris’s top scientist, Sophia, about what she just saw. In order to save the city, Sophia must face her past and urges the powers that be to stop they event. Just like other Shark movies such as Jaws, the leaders refuse to postpone the event. As a result, many of the triathlon swimmers are getting taken out by the shark along with some of its friends. With no choice, they find themselves teaming up with the river police commander, Adil, to further avoid a bloodbath.

Who is behind Under Paris?
In addition to directing the film, Xavier Gens co-wrote the script with Yannick Dahan, Maud Heywand and Yaël Langmann. He is most known for directing Mayhem, Hitman, The Divide and several episodes of Gangs of London, Mortel and Lupin. The film is produced by Sebastien Auscher, with Nicolas Massart on cinematography, Riwanon Le Beller editing, and casting by Stéphanie Doncker. Other credits include Production Design by Hubert Pouille, Art Direction by Nicolas Prono, and Set Decoration by Ilse Willocx.
