My Lady Jane
The story of Lady Jane Grey gets a face-lift as she avoid the executioner’s axe in the Prime Video romantic comedy, My Lady Jane.
What is My Lady Jane about?
Inspired by the book of the same name, the series is a reimagining of the life of Lady Jane Grey. Known as the “Nine Day’s Queen”, she was Queen of England for only nine days before Mary Tudor (Bloody Mary) claimed the throne. Jane was held prisoner in a tower after being convicted of treason.
Instead of depicting the crime details of her life, the series is a radical retelling of her history. In this alternative Tudor world, Edward VI (King Henry VIII’s son) does not die of tuberculosis. Also, neither her nor her husband, Lord Guildford Dudley (son of Edward VI) are beheaded.
Unexpectedly, she becomes queen overnight. Soon Jane (Emily Bader) finds herself the target of people coming for her crown and her head. There are conspiracies involving the plot to murder her cousin, King Edward, and throw the kingdom into chaos. Not to mention, a stranger arrives with a dark secret that could get her killed. It seems that this damsel in distress will have to save herself.
