The Boys
The Seven and The Boys face off as the world is on the brink of destruction when a super-powered assassin sets her sights on the White House in season four of The Boys.
What is The Boys Season 4 About?
Based on the The New York Times best-selling graphic novel by Gard Ennis and Darick Robertson, the series is not your typical super-hero TV show. In the series, it portrays a more realistic version of how people with super powers would be. A powerful corporation, Vought International, aggressively markets and monetizes the world’s top heroes, The Seven.
Think of them as the Avengers or the Justice League. In the eyes of the public, they are celebrities, as influential as politicians as. revered as gods. But outside the their public personas, most are arrogant and corrupt. The Seven’s leader, Homelander, a version of Superman, is the most corrupt. Think about it, if Superman were real, would he really be so wholesome. In light of this, there is a group looking to take them down, The Boys, led by Billy Butcher (Karl Urban). Made primarily of average joes, they have been a thorn in the side of Vought and The Seven.
The Bad Guys
Fast forward to season four, the world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman, the one who explodes people’s heads, is closer than ever to becoming the next president. With Homelander by her side, her goals are eminent.
In turn for assassinating the Vice President, Victoria gives Homelander the location of his son, Ryan. By taking his place, she is one step closer to the presidency. This doesn’t bode well for The Boys since a plot against her would be treason. Meanwhile, after killing a civilian in front of everyone in season three, the world embraces Homelander’s dark bad persona. Feeling empowered, the smile he gives at the end of the season is not good.
The Good Guys
Due to taking Compound V to gain super powers, Butcher has only have a few months to live. Consequently, because of his decisions, he has lost his job as the leader of The Boys. What’s more, he has lost his ex-wife’s son to his father, Homelander. On the other hand, with a boost of electricity, Starlight as unlocked a new level of her powers. With the country divided between Homelander and Starlight factions, it is up to the rest of The Boys to save the world.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. As we can see from the trailer below, the team has access to a virus that kills the super-powered. Created in the series, Gen V, this could be the weapon to defeat Homelander once and for all.
