Hacks
In season 3 of Hacks, Deborah Vance is riding high off the success of her standup special while Ava explores new opportunities in LA.
What is Hacks Season 3 About?
The show centers around Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) and Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder). In season one, Deborah was a legendary Las Vegas stand-up comedian who needed a way to reinvent her aging act. To avoid losing her residency at the Palmetto Casino, she hires Ava. Ava is a down on her luck comedy writer who is unable to find work because of an insensitive tweet she sent and her reputation. Even though Deborah feels she doesn’t need the help, she reluctantly accepts. When the pair meets, they instantly do not like each other. But due to the circumstances, they must work together. As they work through their personal problems together, they grow to tolerate each other.
In season two, Deborah decides to go on tour to boost her career. While on tour, the duo craft a TV special to showcase Deborah’s wit and talent. Meanwhile, Ava’s career as a writer is on the rise. She is invited by an old friend to do a short term writing gig. At the same time, Deborah is suing Ava for violating the non-disclosure agreement in their contract. Previously, Ava sent a scornful email about Deborah to TV producers. Ultimately, it was a way of Deborah showing Ava that they needed to stick together and that she was in the wrong.
During the release party for her special, Deborah publicly thanks Ava as it was the perfect union of their time together. Fearing that she is holding Ava back, Deborah fires Ava and cancels the lawsuit in the season finale. It was Deborah twisted way of showing love to Ava.
Season three picks up a year after the events of season two. Deborah is riding high off the success of her special while Ava pursues new opportunities in Los Angeles. Besides that, little has been released about the plot. Hopefully, we’ll see Deborah and Ava reunite. However, the studio did release a long list of guest stars including Helen Hunt, Christina Hendricks, Christopher Lloyd, Dan Bucatinsky, George Wallace, and Tony Goldwyn.
Retuning to the show will be Paul W. Downs, Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Kaitlin Olson, Christopher McDonald, Mark Indelicato, Rose Abdoo, and Lorenza Izzo.
