What is Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes About?
In the new film, it has been years since Caesar’s revolt against the humans who harmed him. During the conflict a plague emerges wiping out most of humanity. Those who remained were left with diminished intelligence. As the intellect and population of humans begin to decrease, apes gain the upper hand. While humans are forced to live in the shadows, apes are now the dominant species.
Nearly 300 years after the events of War for the Planet of the Apes, a new tyrannical ape, Proximus Caesar (Kevin Durand), is the new ruler. With tales of of how the humans used instruments to conquer the natural world, he perverts Caesar’s original teachings. In doing so, he enslaves other clans to search for remnants of human technologies. Apart of one of these clans is Noa (Owen Teague).
As a common chimpanzee, he is tasked to search for those relics. However, he discovers something that causes him to question everything he knew about the past. While on his journey he meets a human girl name Mae (Freya Allen). With more intelligence than most human, she joins Noa in his journey. As they uncover the truth, the pair makes choices that will define the future for both apes and humans alike.
