Based on Anne Rice’s novel of the same name the AMC series, Interview With The Vampire, sheds more light on the Louis and Lestat vampire story.
What is Interview With The Vampire About?
After gaining critical with the movie starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and a young, Kirsten Dunst, comes a new imagining of Anne Rice’s novel. Told in the form of an interview, Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) recounts his epic story living as a vampire.
Season one begins in 2022 where Louis enlists the help of renown journalist, Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian) to tell his story. Throughout his conversations, he relays both the benefits and the perils of being immortal. Imagined in flashbacks, Louis narrates the first meeting with his maker, Lestat (Sam Reid) and their relationship. Upon arriving in New Orleans, Lestat is intrigued and falls in love with Louis. Haunted by his father’s death, racism and business failure, he is an easy target for Lestat and makes him a vampire.
Even though they love one another, Louis is at odds with Lestat. This is where we first meet, Claudia (Bailey Bass). Swapping out a young girl, for a teen, Louis rescues her and becomes like a daughter to their pair. She fills the void that Lestat can’t fulfill. But due to his blood-thirsty, controlling nature, both Louis and Claudia plot to extinguish Lestat.
Season two picks up after Louis and Clauda conspire to kill Lestat. Leaving New Orleans, they travel to Europe to discover Old World Vampire and the Theatre Des Vampires in Paris. In doing so, he meets his new love the Vampire Armand (Assad Zaman). As he retells his story, he reveals the affair had devastating consequences in the past and future. Meanwhile, Molloy probes Louis to get to the truths buried within his memories.
