Dragons take to the skies once again in the Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, telling the epic story of House Targaryen giving a new meaning to “Winter is Coming”.
What is House of the Dragon About?
Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, the series tells the story of House Targaryen. The events take place 200 years before the popular HBO series, Game of Thrones. Originally airing in 2022, HBO released an official guide and DracArys App to help viewers navigate the series.
Season 1
In season one, King Viserys of the House of Targaryen is the undisputed ruler of Westeros and the surrounding lands. However, civil war is brewing amongst his children for control of the throne. While he names his daughter, Rhaenyra, as his successor, many aren’t happy with his choice. As a result, he sets off a series of events that will lead to a bitter battle for the Iron Throne.
Season 2
Westeros is on the brink of war and everyone must chose a side. King Aegon and the Green Council are pitted against Queen Rhaenyra and the Black Council. Provided that each side believes they should have the seat on the Iron Throne, only one can win.

Due to nudity, violence, language, frightening and intense scenes, House of the Dragon is rated TV-MA.

All ten episodes of season one of House of the Dragon can be watched on HBO and the streaming service Max. The eight-episode second season debuts on June 16, 2024 on HBO and will be available to stream on Max the same day.
