Since 2014, the John Wick universe has captivated audiences around the world. At the center of all of them is the iconic hotel for assassins, The Continental. Now on the small screen, the mini series, The Continental: From the World of John Wick, explores the origins of this infamous hotel.
The Continental is a chain of hotels around the world that serves as neutral ground for the criminal underworld. For this purpose, everyone must follow the rules. Above all, no “business” is allowed on hotels grounds, including fighting and carrying out contracts. In the event that you ignore this rule, you will be excommunicado and all your rights will be revoked.
As for payment, there is only one currency at The Continental; special gold coins. In order to get gold coins, you must receive them from the High Table. The gold coin provides sanctuary at the hotel as well as other services. Patrons can purchase services including bullet proof suits and medical treatment. According to the director, Albert Hughes, the series will “dig deeper into the rules and mythology while expanding the physical scope of The Continental, showing fans areas of the iconic hotel they’ve never seen before.”
The prequel is told through the eyes of a young Winston Scott (Colin Woodell). Winston has a past he wants to leave behind. He plans to make things right after his brother’s attack on the Continental hotel. As a result, he is thrust into the hellish and chaotic underworld of 1970s New York City. As he discovers the hotel’s mysteries, he plots his way to seize it. These are the building blocks of him becoming the owner of the New York based The Continental.
Other cast members include Mel Gibson, Mishel Prada, Ben Robson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Nhung Kate, Jessica Allain, Ayomide Adegun, Jeremy Bobb and Peter Greene.
