Pet Sematary: Bloodlines is the latest adaptation of a Stephen King novel. It is based on a chapter of his book, Pet Sematary. The events take place 20 years before the 1989 classic of the same name.
If you’re not familiar with book or the movie, a family moves into the house of their dreams in the country. Soon they discover a creepy pet cemetery at the back of their property. Unbeknownst to them, the cemetery is a cursed burial ground. It has the power to bring the dead back to life with some “minor” problems. After an unfortunate accident, a heartbroken father does the unthinkable and learn why “sometimes dead is better.”
This wasn’t the only film adaptation of the book. Following the 1989 movie was Pet Sematary II in 1992 and a Pet Sematary re-boot that came to theaters in 2019 that featured an alternate ending.
Pet Sematary: Bloodline is a prequel to the events of the 1989 movie. A young man, Jud Crandall (Jackson White) has dreams of leaving his hometown. Before leaving Ludlow, Maine, he uncovers sinister secrets buried in the town. These secrets in his family’s history forces him to stay in Ludlow and confront his dark past.
He bands together with his childhood friends to fight an ancient evil that has gripped the town since it was found. If unearthed, it has the power to destroy everything in its path.
Along with White, the movie stars Forrest Goodluck, Jack Mulhern, Henry Thomas, Natalie Alyn Lund, Isabella Star LeBlanc, Pam Grier and David Duchovny. In addition, it is directed by Lindsey Anderson Beer and produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian in association with Paramount Pictures’ Players Label.
